Jabariya Jodi Box-Office Collection Day 2: Sidharth Malhotra-Parineeti Chopra’s Romantic Comedy Fails To Witness Much Of A Growth
Parineeti Chopra- Sidharth Malhotra’s film Jabariya Jodi, which saw a dull start at the box office, has failed to witness much growth on Day 2 and has collected a total of Rs 6.5 Cr (approx) so far
Five years after creating magic in Vinil Mathew’s film Hasee Toh Phasee, Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra are now once again back together in their romantic comedy Jabariya Jodi. Fans of the two had a lot of expectations, especially since their first film together was a success. However, the film failed to emanate a great response from the audience this time around. It already started off slowly at the box-office on Day 1 and Day 2 didn’t see much growth in the box-office numbers either as it earned around 3.75 cr on Saturday.
According to a report in BoxOfficeIndia.com, “Jabariya Jodi had growth of 35-40% on Saturday which is not that good today as films that don’t open should be showing double this growth. The film collected 3.75 crore nett on Saturday to take its two day total to 6.50 crore nett.” The report further added, “ There is a holiday for Bakrid on Monday so the film can be at around 15 crore nett after four days but that's a poor return annd post Monday it will have just Tuesday and Wednesday to do business. The two day collections for Jabariya Jodi are as follows. Friday - 2,75,00,000 apprx. Saturday - 3,75,00,000 apprx. TOTAL - 6,50,00,000 apprx”
SpotboyE Editor, Vickey Lalwani rated Jabariya Jodi with 2.5 stars and wrote, “The motive is good but the execution could have been better. Jabariya Jodi, though long and lacking good songs, Parineeti Chopra and Sidharth Malhotra put their best foot forward in a film that has several hilarious moments but an inconstant pace. So yeah, JJ has its crests as well as troughs. Parineeti Chopra is in her patakha comfort zone and hence could have got complacent, but the Babli of Jabariya Jodi holds herself back and does not allow her performance to go OTT. Sidharth, who needed to deviate here from his usual quintessential aptly-dressed boy, is satisfactory.”
The film has been produced by Ekta Kapoor, Shobha Kapoor and Shailesh R Singh and apart from the lead cast Parineeti Chopra and Sidharth Malhotra, it also stars Jaaved Jaaferi, Sanjay Mishra, Aparshakti Khurana and Chandan Roy Sanyal in pivotal roles. The film had a solo release on August 9 and despite being the only film to release this week, it failed to bring in the audience.
